Celebrating Virginia Loveday for 45 Years of Faithful Service

Morehouse General Hospital (MGH) is extremely proud to honor Virginia S. Loveday after 45 years of faithful service to the healthcare facility and Morehouse Parish community.  Virginia began her journey with MGH in 1979, as the Administrative Assistant in the Administration Office, balancing with it a weekend job at Jack & Jill’s Children’s Shop.  She held this position with the hospital for one year.

Virginia was able to apply her professional education and training when she transferred to the Accounting Office.  She began working in the Accounts Payable section before being advanced to Bookkeeping Clerk, a position which entailed rigorous review of hospital financial charges in addition, assisting with accounts payable and accountant’s duties.

Following two years in the role and upon the retirement of the hospital accountant, Virginia was promoted to the Hospital Accountant.  During her tenure, additional roles were moved into accounting department increasing Virginia’s scope of responsibility.

During her time in accounting, Virginia served under several Chief Financial Officers, gained significant mentorship and experience.   Virginia even provided oversight and mentorship to MGH’s current Chief Financial Officer, Jason Bonner, when he served the accounting department as Financial Analyst.

In 2011, Virginia was recognized both as Employee of The Month and received the distinct honor of Morehouse General Hospital’s Employee of The Year.  In 2017, Virginia transferred to Human Resources, where she has served until the present.

Following retirement, Virginia plans to travel and further the Ladies Ministry at Harmony Baptist Church, where she and her husband (Associate Pastor Mike Loveday), serve.

Virginia’s time with MGH has been a tremendous journey and will forever be a fond memory in her heart.  She has given so much to the hospital and touched so many in our community.  All of us at MGH wish you and Mike a very happy and enjoyable retirement.

“It is simply amazing when someone dedicates over half of their life to any company”, stated Human Resources Director, Delanda Davis.  “Virginia just turned 64 years in November.  To have served 45 years of that 64 years (over half of her life) at Morehouse General Hospital tells me that there was certainly a passion in her heart for this hospital”.
